My name is Bob Ross, and since 1998 I have had the special privilege of serving as pastor to the people of Heritage Baptist Church. On behalf of my wife Tammi and our family, thank you for taking time to visit.
If you are in the area and looking for a friendly, out going, out reaching church family, you can find it here at Heritage Baptist Church. Our ministries are designed to be family friendly, and certainly Christ centered. The teaching ministries are Bible based and practical. The fellowship is sweet and encouraging. We invite you to stop by and see what the Lord is doing here at Heritage!
Our History
In 1991, following the Lord’s leading, Pastor Tom Bish and his family moved into the Jeannette area to start a church. In a rented building on the corner of
Third and Bullitt Streets, with eight people in attendance, Heritage Baptist Church held its first service on Sunday, October 26, 1991.
Pastor Bish guided the growth of the new church and in January, 1993 directed the relocation of the church to its second address at 700 Western Avenue. This building served as the church’s home until October, 1997 when the growing church moved into its present location at 1015 Lowry Avenue.
Taking another step of faith in March of 1998, Pastor Bish answered the Lord’s call to resign as pastor in Jeannette and assume the pastorate of the Heritage Baptist Church in Wallingford, Connecticut.
By May of 1998, the mantle of leadership of the Heritage Baptist Church was passed to the church’s current pastor, Robert D. Ross, Jr., who became the second pastor of Heritage Baptist Church. Pastor Ross is also from the Greensburg area.
In May of 2003, the Lord allowed the church to dedicate a newly constructed fellowship hall and 225 seat auditorium, with well over 350 in attendance for the event. Later that summer, Heritage Baptist Academy was started with the desire to offer Christian education to the children of Heritage Baptist Church.
The growth of the church continued, and the 17,000 square foot Restorex building, the building adjacent to the existing church property, was purchased in the spring of 2013. This building, located at 1003 Lowry Avenue, houses the church offices, conference room, and class rooms. The church also made space available for Brother Roger Napper to relocate the North East Regional Office of the Rock of Ages to this site.
In June 2015, Heritage Baptist Church acquired 14 acres of property adjacent to the existing church properties, and has since developed increased parking, recreational space, and several modern renovations.
The church has had a vibrant ministry since its foundation, starting many outreach ministries.
Some of these ministries include: weekly soul winning programs; a world wide Faith Promise Missions program; yearly marriage conferences; Heritage Baptist Academy; Prison ministry; Youth detention center ministry, and Faith Bible Institute. From the start, the focus of the church has been to glorify God, and to proclaim His Son, Jesus Christ, as Saviour.
